Company History
Before establishing the business, Chris Ince – Managing Director – was an installer for a number of well-known shed companies in Melbourne. During this time, he worked in a storeman role, moving into sales for a short time before becoming an installer of sheds. From Chris’s experience, he believed there was a better way a business could operate; to better inform clients of total project cost and exceed expectations in terms of quality, service and communication.
This long-term industry experience and drive to exceed expectations is part of the reason why we think we are the most knowledgeable shed business in Melbourne – offering a complete service from initial quote and permits, right through to completion.
After some 12 years’ experience in the industry, Chris together with his wife Emma purchased the business now known as Melbourne Garages in 2010.
One of the first things implemented into the business was a way of structuring quotes to provide clients with a full project cost that was understood from the beginning. In addition, site visits are offered and welcomed, leading to accurate site costs for concreting and construction and therefore happier and more informed clients.
Having a young family brought its own challenges with managing and developing the business. After some time commuting between the Peninsula and the North Eastern suburbs – the family made the move down to the Peninsula and have never looked back.
Being able to embed themselves into the community supports the longevity of the business and has allowed Chris and Emma to appreciate and better understand the needs of the local clients, the area itself and the council requirements.
In 2014 Melbourne Garages relocated and expanded its display centre in order to provide the ability to showcase more options to our clients. With significant investment they have developed a comprehensive display, with Fair Dinkum Builds recently awarding us the “most improved display site” and “best national distributor site” awards. This demonstrates the commitment to the business and clients by providing the best opportunity to view the standard of our work, the quality of our product and professionalism of our team.
Through dedication to customer service and delivery of a quality finished product, we have increased the business substantially, which now stands as the Mornington Peninsula’s premier steel building construction company and one of Fair Dinkum Builds top national distributors. With our rapid growth from a small family business into a systematic and streamlined company, we have been able to maintain the dependability, accountability and service you would expect from a family business.
